ADRIAN YOUNGE SOULSEA (CUT CHEMIST REMIX)

Multi-facetted producer Adrian Younge recently worked on La Luz's debut single, 'Watching Cartoons', in between his other impressive endeavours like the fantastic song 'Oi Instrumental', alongside collaborators Marcos Valle and Ali Shaheed Muhammed. Now, he announces a remix album of songs from artists on his label, Jazz Is Dead. Younge & Muhammad only invited those special musical alchemists who have previously participated in Jazz Is Dead happenings, or those who are slated to share that stage soon: Cut Chemist, DJ Spinna, Georgie Anne Muldrow, Akili, Shigeto, Pink Siiffureleases and more. The first remix to land is new 'Soulsea (Cut Chemist Remix)', a song that was originally written alongside Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Gary Bartz. Cut Chemist's remix is less entangling, and slower than the original track. He switches the manic, jazz-head beat for a simpler one, where the bass follows comfortably by its side. Sax is the most prominent element, and occasionally the track does start to unravel, which is when we hear looser and more complex drums. -Ellie Rose-Davies
